About to have my own session (that is, the one I'm speaking in) start at the 2026 International Congress of Byzantine Studies in Vienna. Going to be talking about the specific forms of visual historical memory promoted by particular styles of game and the effect that's having on modern perceptions of the Byzantine and medieval Caucasian worlds :)

see the great thing about rust and specifically cargo, and the compiler being constructed in terms of its previous iteration, is that in order to use rust at all, you need to have the entire packaging ecosystem there with you on disk and in memory at all times
Disappointed that #Debian has chosen what seems like the worst possible option in its vote on LLMs.
No acknowledgement of the harms involved in LLM usage; instead, a claim that they ‘substantially improve productivity’. (It claims not to be an endorsement but makes only pro-LLM statements.)
Vague platitudes about using LLMs ‘responsibly’ when it’s become very clear by now that LLM users can’t be trusted to be responsible without constant supervision. And no requirement for disclosure of LLM usage, even.
It didn’t seem likely that the strongest anti-LLM proposals would pass, but it would have been nice to have at least some restrictions put into place.

@aral ccTLDs are definitely more resilient to pressure from ICANN than gTLDs and sponsored TLDs.
They might have their own issues, obviously. As always, it depends on your threat model.

This all could have been handled in a boring and civil way. "Thank you for your feedback, let me discuss it with the team". "We decided we're going to do X because of Y reasons".
Instead, Justin's replies are reactionary and immediately escalate. Disrespect, name-calling, discrediting.
It's also frustrating that Justin seems to feel entitled to post these things as the official stance of the neovim contributor team.
I am a "real" neovim user (I picked up vim 20 years ago), plugin creator, previous sponsor - not that it should matter. The neovim team needs to re-evaluate how you are engaging with your community.
I think Justin has demonstrated a critical lack of restraint and judgement here. Calling people garbage is not acceptable behavior.
